里山塾　11月「おとなの里山コース」「茅葺きコース」開催
今年も両コース合同で、２日間にわたり茅刈り(ススキの刈り取り)を行いました。刈り取った茅はその場で「島立て」を行い、冬の間じっくりと乾燥させ、翌年には倉庫に移して曲がりを矯正し、数年後屋根材として活用します。
この茅場は広大でとても地道な作業ですが、草原に住む「カヤネズミ」の痕跡や鳥のさえずりに癒されつつ、和気あいあいと和やかで楽しい雰囲気の中刈り取りを進め、昨年を上回る収穫量となりました。
また、作業の合間には、さつまいも入りのおしるこを味わいながら、鮮やかに色づく里山をお楽しみいただきました。

Satoyama School November "Adult Satoyama Course" and "Thatching Course" held
This year, both courses participated in a two-day thatching (harvesting Japanese pampas grass). The harvested thatch was then placed in a "island" on the spot and slowly dried over the winter. The following year, it was moved to a warehouse to straighten any crookedness and be used as roofing material in a few years.
The thatched field was vast and the work was painstaking, but the participants worked in a harmonious and enjoyable atmosphere, soothed by the sounds of birdsong and traces of the grassland's "harvest mice." The harvest yield exceeded last year's.
In between work, participants enjoyed sweet potato oshiruko (rice red bean soup) and the vibrant colors of the satoyama.
