Completed in 2014, “Artist Room - Bamboo” by Yoshitaka Nishikawa was designed to evoke the quiet serenity of a bamboo grove - offering guests a sense of calm and connection to nature, even in the heart of the city. Over the years, this unique space has continued to inspire and soothe its visitors.
Now, more than a decade later, we share Nishikawa’s reflections - insights that only time can bring.

Q. Are there any memorable episodes or challenges from the production process?
A. When I stayed at the hotel for several days during the production, I was most impressed by the professionalism of the hotel staff. Their communication, attentiveness, and graceful posture - even behind the scenes - left a lasting impression. Until then, I had never really paid attention to that aspect of hotels. It may not be directly related to the room’s creation, but it remains the most vivid memory. Honestly, I never struggled - it was all just fun.

アーティストルーム「竹」 - 作品完成から11年目の想い

2014年に完成したアーティストルーム「竹」。
アーティスト・西川芳孝氏が手がけたこの空間は、都市にいながら自然の静けさを感じられる“竹林”のような部屋として、長年ゲストに愛されています。
今回は、完成から時を経た今だからこそ語られる、西川氏の声をご紹介します。

Q. 制作過程で印象に残っているエピソードや、苦労された点はありましたか？
👉制作の為に何日か滞在させていただきましたが、ホテルスタッフ皆様のプロフェッショナルぶりが今でも一番印象に残ってます。コミュニケーションの仕方や気配り、裏側でも皆様凛とした立ち姿で当時感動したことをはっきり覚えています。それまではホテルに宿泊する際そういった事を意識して観察したことがなかったので、制作に関係することではないですがそれが一番印象に残っています。
苦労はなく、ずっと楽しかったです。
