How often do you look up at the ceiling?
If you take a moment to look at the ceiling, you may discover something new about its architectural charm.

The beautiful domed ceiling of Tokyo Station's Marunouchi Station Building has been restored to its original appearance in 1914.
The ceiling decorations are full of highlights, including reliefs of the zodiac signs and a dynamic eagle with its wings spread ✨

The white flower made of plaster next to the wheel motif in the centre is a "clematis", and its flower language means "joy of the traveller". This message is fitting for Tokyo Station, a place that sees many come and go each day.

We will continue to introduce the "If you look up" series, which introduces architecture in Tokyo by looking up. Please look forward to more!
