🇯🇵🪁Japan’s Largest Giant Kite | Nearly 200 Years of Tradition✨✨

The Sagami Giant Kite Festival is a traditional event held in Sagamihara City, with origins dating back to around 1830, and is one of the city’s most iconic celebrations.

Every year, local communities come together to carefully preserve and carry on this cherished tradition. The festival’s centerpiece is the legendary “Hakken Kite,” named after an old Japanese unit of measurement. Measuring an incredible 14.5 meters on each side and weighing around 950 kg, the Hakken Kite proudly holds the title of the largest giant kite regularly flown in all of Japan.

Held every year on May 4th and 5th, the sight of the Hakken Kite soaring into the sky is truly breathtaking. Experience the power of the Sagami Giant Kite through immersive ground-level footage and unique drone perspectives.
