御岳山山頂に鎮座する神社です。天平８年（西暦736年）、行基が蔵王権現の像を安置したと伝えられ、古くから修験場として栄えました。平安時代から江戸時代には有力者や武士から厚く信仰され、大鎧や太刀・刀などが数多く奉納されました。これら国宝を含む貴重な文化財は、宝物殿で観ることができます。
「大口真神」が「おいぬ様」と呼ばれることから、愛犬と一緒に健康を祈願する人々でも賑わっています。

We went to Musashi Mitake Shrine！

Located on the peak of Mt. Mitake. It is told that Japanese monk Gyoki enshrined a statue of Zao Gongen, the main avatar of worship in the Shugendo religion, in this spot in the year 736, and the temple has flourished as a holy spot since ancient times. Influential figures and warriors alike worshipped reverently here from the Heian to Edo periods, and many number of suits of armor and swords have been presented as offerings. These precious cultural artifacts, including some national treasures, can be seen in the Treasure Hall.
Since a god Ōguchi Magami (deified Japanese wolf) is called “Oinu-sama (sacred dog),” this place has long been associated with dogs, and people can be seen bringing their fuzzy friends along for a shrine visit.
