🙌今回は梅の公園についてご紹介‍🙌

梅の公園は、地域で生産されている「梅」の花を楽しんでいただこうと、昭和47年（1972年）に設置した公園です。かつては、約120品種、1700本以上の梅が植栽され、花の咲く時期には10万人を超える観光客で賑わい、平成21年（2009年）には日本経済新聞社の「おすすめ梅の名所ランキング」で日本一になったこともありました。
しかし、平成21年（2009年）に日本で初めてとなるウメ輪ウイルスが青梅市で確認されたことにより、感染の拡大を防止するため、市内全体ではこれまでに4万本を超える梅樹等が代採され、梅の公園も例外ではなく、平成26年（2014年）5月に全伐採を行いました。
市では、平成25年（2013年）3月に「梅の里再生計画」を策定し、市民、農業者、観光・商業事業者および行政等が一丸となって再生・復興に向けた取り組みを進めるとともに、ウイルスを抑えるための強化対策を講じてきた結果、平成28年（2016年）10月、一部地域で条件付きながら国から再植栽が認められました。
梅の公園でも再植栽に取り組み、かつての梅の景観が甦るよう尽力しております。皆様にも1年ごとの梅の公園の成長を見ていただければ幸いに思います。

Plum Park was established in 1972 for the neighborhood to enjoy the plum blossoms grown in Ome City.
There used to be more than 1,700 plum trees (120 species) in the park. More than 100,000 visitors visited during the flowers' blooming period and in 2009, The Nikkei even ranked it the best spot to view plum blossoms in Japan.
However, in 2009 the plum pox virus was discovered for the first time in Japan in Ome City. To put a stop to the spread of this virus, more than 40,000 plum trees have been felled city-wide since and Plum Park was no exception; all plum trees were cut down in May 2014.
In March 2013, the city government came up with a plan to bring back Plum Park. Together with the citizens, farmers, business partners and the tourism sector, the city government worked to implement the plan to restore Plum Park and strengthen measures to prevent the spread of the virus. In October 2016, as a result of these efforts, the Japanese government permitted partial replanting but this was subject to certain conditions.
The Ome City Ward is working on replanting plum trees and we are doing our best to bring back that beautiful scenery of plum blossoms. We would be most happy if you would join us and look forward to their growth this year too.
