Enjoy cherry blossoms ahead of their peak season 🌸
In Kyoto, cherry blossoms typically reach their peak from late March to early April. This is also the busiest time of year, as visitors flock to admire the flowers. This is because the Somei Yoshino variety, widely planted across Japan, tends to bloom all at once.
However, cherry blossoms are not limited to just one variety. With weeping cherry trees whose vivid pink blossoms and branches that cascade gracefully like a waterfall or vivid pink blossoms found in the mountains , each variety has its own unique beauty. Early-blooming types such as Kawazu-zakura bloom from late February to early March. These early sakura offer a chance to enjoy the season at a slower, more relaxed pace.
*Please note that the blooming periods mentioned here are only a general guide, and crowding might still occur during the full bloom period.
When visiting, we kindly ask that you admire the blossoms quietly, take your trash home with you, and avoid touching the flowers or branches, so that everyone can enjoy them for as long as possible.
