今日は「金通し縮緬（きんとおしちりめん）」について少しお話しします。

縮緬は、細かなシボが特徴の生地で、やわらかさと深みのある質感が魅力です。
そこに金糸を織り込んだものが「金通し縮緬」。
角度によってきらりと光が走り、落ち着いた縮緬の風合いに華やかさを添えてくれます。

これ、なかなか写真では伝わらないんですよね。
2枚目の写真、少しキラキラしてるのが見えると思いますが、
実物はこれの何倍も輝いています。

着用したときにもお顔映りが沈まず、金糸がアクセントとなって花びらに立体感を与えます。
晴れやかな場にふさわしい豪華さを持ちながらも、
控えめで上品な輝きなので、派手すぎることはありません。

おはりばこでは、この金通し縮緬を、成人式や卒業式の髪飾りに多く用いています。
伝統の素材にほんの少しの煌めきを加えることで、

Today, I’d like to share a little about kin-tōshi chirimen—
chirimen crepe silk woven with gold threads.

Chirimen is known for its fine crepe texture,
softness, and rich depth.
When gold threads are woven through,
it becomes kin-tōshi chirimen,
catching the light at certain angles
and adding elegance to its calm texture.

This beauty is hard to capture in photos.
In the second picture, you might see a faint sparkle,
but in reality, it shines many times more.

When worn, the gold threads prevent the colors from looking dull
and give each petal a sense of dimension.
It carries the grandeur suited for special occasions,
yet the shimmer is never excessive—
always refined and tasteful.

At Oharibako, we often use kin-tōshi chirimen
for hair ornaments for Coming-of-Age ceremonies and graduations.
By adding just a touch of sparkle to this traditional fabric,
we hope to make those special days shine even brighter in memory.
