鎌倉山の山頂に佇む「扇湖山荘（せんこさんそう）」は、製薬会社「ワカモト製薬」創業者の長尾欽彌氏の別荘として建てられました。
杉の木立から見える相模湾が扇の形をした湖のように見えたことから、この美しい名前がつけられたそう🌊

本館はなんと！岐阜県の飛騨高山から移築されたものなんです😳
昭和初期の和風建築の趣を残しつつ、南側から見ると和洋折衷の雰囲気も楽しめる、まさに和洋折衷の美が光る建物。庭園や茶室と一体となった自然豊かな景観は、息をのむほど美しいです🍃

「長尾美術館」や料亭「鎌倉園」、そして旧三和銀行（現三菱UFJ銀行）の研修所など、時代とともに様々な顔を見せてきた扇湖山荘。
2010年には鎌倉市に寄附され、一時は一般公開もされていましたが、残念ながら今は立ち入ることができません😢

しかし、鎌倉市はこの歴史的・文化的価値ある建物を未来へ残すため、現在、民間事業者と利活用に向けた協議を進めています。
いつかまた、この素晴らしい扇湖山荘の魅力に触れられる日が来ることを願って✨

Senkosanso, located on the summit of Mount Kamakura, was built as a villa for Kinya Nagao, the founder of the pharmaceutical company, Wakamoto Pharmaceuticals.
It was named Senko, or "fan lake," because Sagami Bay as seen from the villa looking through the cedar trees of the gardens looks like a lake in the shape of a Japanese fan.🌊

The main building was moved from Hida Takayama in Gifu Prefecture!😳

While retaining the charm of Japanese architecture from the early Showa period, the building exudes a blend of Japanese and Western styles when viewed from the south. The beautiful natural scenery, combined with the garden and teahouse, is breathtakingly beautiful.🍃

Senkosanso has had many different faces over the years, including the Nagao Art Museum, the restaurant Kamakuraen, and the training center of the former Sanwa Bank.

It was donated to Kamakura City in 2010 and was open to the public for while, but unfortunately it is no longer open to the public.😢

However, in order to preserve this historically and culturally valuable building for future generations, Kamakura City is currently discussing its utilization with private companies.

Wishing for the day when we can once again be touched by the beauty of this remarkable Senkosanso.✨
