【東区】
No.11　筥崎宮（はこざきぐう）

延長元年（923年）創建と伝わる、福岡を代表する歴史ある神社「筥崎宮」⛩️
石清水（京都府）・宇佐（大分県）と並ぶ“三大八幡”のひとつとして、全国から信仰を集めてきました。

1月の玉取祭（玉せせり、市指定無形民俗文化財）や９月の放生会（ほうじょうや）などは、福岡の風物詩として地域で親しまれています。

本殿・拝殿や楼門などは国の有形文化財、箱崎八幡宮縁起や刀・太刀などの収蔵品は県の有形文化財に指定されており、特に檜皮葺（ひわだぶき）の楼門は圧巻です。

【Higashi Ward】
No.11 Hakozaki Shrine

Founded in 923 (Enchō 1), Hakozaki Shrine is one of Fukuoka’s most historic and representative Shinto shrines ⛩️

Along with Iwashimizu Shrine in Kyoto and Usa Shrine in Oita, it is regarded as one of the “Three Great Hachiman Shrines” and has attracted worshippers from across Japan.

The Tamaseseri Festival in January (designated as a Municipal Intangible Folk Cultural Property) and the Hojoya Festival in September are beloved seasonal traditions of Fukuoka.

The Main Hall, Worship Hall, and Tower Gate are designated as National Tangible Cultural Properties. In addition, the illustrated history of Hakozaki Hachimangu Shrine, as well as swords and other artifacts in its collection, are designated as Prefectural Tangible Cultural Properties.

In particular, the Tower Gate with its cypress bark (hiwada-buki) roof is truly breathtaking.
