和装の下着として身に付ける着物。
布を縛るなどして染料が染み込まないようにする絞り染めの技法で麻の葉文様を表しています。
古来より麻は神事の祭具に使われ、生命力が強く、邪気を払う力があるとされていました。

「民具と生活－暮らしの中の意匠（デザイン）、暮らしのための設計（デザイン）－」はいよいよ今週末、4月13日（日）まで！

This Kimono is worn as underclothing.
The hemp leaf pattern is made using a tie-dye technique, in which the cloth is tied with thread to prevent the dye from seeping through. Since ancient times, hemp has been used as a ritual material and is believed to have a strong life force, and also to ward off evil spirits.

This item is now on display in the exhibition "Folk Implements - Designs in Everyday Life, Design for Life" runs until April 13, 2025 in the Feature Exhibition Room.
