A colorful tunnel of zelkova trees at Baba Daimon Keyaki Namiki Dori Avenue welcomes you when you get off at Fuchu Station!
In 1062, Minamoto Yoriyoshi and his son Yoshiie donated 1,000 zelkova seedlings as a thank-you prayer for the victory of the Zenkunen War which lasted for nine years. Later, Ieyasu Tokugawa donated the Baba place in honor of the two battles in Sekigahara and Osaka, and replanted zelkova seedlings.
Today, Keyaki Namiki Dori Avenue has several trees from the early Edo period, and over 200 trees in total, including old trees such as zelkova and maple!

府中市の玄関、京王線府中駅を降りると色鮮やかな木々のトンネルがお迎えします！
歴史を紐解くと、1062年、源頼義、義家父子が、前九年の役の戦勝祈願御礼としてケヤキの苗1,000本を寄進したことに始まると言われています。その後、徳川家康が関が原､大坂両役の戦勝の御礼として馬場を献上し、ケヤキの苗を補植しました。
現在、けやき並木通りには、江戸初期のものが数本残っているほか、ケヤキ、その他カエデなどの老樹を含め、200本を越える木が植えられています！
