Okunitama-jinja Shrine’s annual Kurayami Festival is held mainly on May 5th (national holiday). Designated as a metropolitan intangible folk cultural asset, the Musashi-Fuchu Kurayami Festival has many highlights, including a parade of mikoshi (portable shrines), large taiko drums, and dashi parade floats.
Main highlights on May 3rd:
Musashi Kokufu Taiko performance from 1pm and 2pm at Keyaki Namiki Street
Fuchu Bayashi parade floats from 6:30pm-8pm, at Keyaki Namiki Street (South side of Keio Line overpass)
Horse race Komakurabe from 8pm, at Kyu Koshu Kaido Ave. (From Fuchu Kaido to Okunitama Police Box)
5月5日(祝)を中心に、大國魂神社の例大祭「くらやみ祭」が行われます。都指定無形民俗文化財「武蔵府中くらやみ祭」として指定されたこの祭りには、みこしや大太鼓、山車の巡行などたくさんの見所があります。
くらやみ祭の主な見所
5月3日(祝)
武蔵国府太鼓の演奏…午後1時、午後2時 けやき並木通り
府中囃子の競演…午後6時半~8時頃 けやき並木通り(京王線高架南側)
競馬式(こまくらべ)…午後8時 旧甲州街道(府中街道手前から大国魂交番手前まで)
