Located in the underground plaza of Shinjuku Station’s West Exit is the public art piece “Eye of Shinjuku.” Created in 1969 by Yoshiko Miyashita, this art installation is made of acrylic, measuring 3 meters in height and 10 meters in width, and features internal lighting. The glowing, large eye, seemingly watching passersby, has become a symbolic presence in Shinjuku.
