This #camellia cultivar is known as 'Tachi-kan-tsubaki' or 'Kanjirō' in Japan. It has been developed to grow "upright" ('Tachi-') from 'Kan-tsubaki' (lit. "winter camellia"), a hybrid of sasanqua camellia and common camellia.
