＼「あいち2025」振り返り／

やきものを素材とした造形物と、その造形物を使ったパフォーマティブな作品を制作するアーティスト・西條茜さんは「あいち2025」では瀬戸の歴史をリサーチした作品を発表しました。
リサーチを通して、やきもののまちとして繁栄した瀬戸の「労働者の存在の強さ」が一番印象に残ったという西條さん。造形物としての作品だけでなく、瀬戸の採土場で撮影されたパフォーマンス映像で構成された空間は、瀬戸の産業発展の背景にある人々の協働や労働の反復を表しているといいます。中が空洞になっている作品は、パフォーマーがその空洞に息を吹き込んだりすることで、身体と有機物、またそれを通して人と人とが繋がる瞬間を作りだしていると西條さんは話しています。

＼Looking back on Aichi Triennale 2025／

Saijo Akane, an artist who creates sculptural works using ceramics as her primary material and develops performative pieces incorporating those sculptures, presented a work at Aichi Triennale 2025 based on her research into the history of Seto.
Through her research, she was most deeply struck by “the strong presence of the workers” who supported Seto’s prosperity as a ceramics-producing town. The exhibition space featured not only her sculptural works but also a performance video filmed at a Seto clay quarry, expressing the collaboration and repetitive labor that underlie Seto’s industrial development.
Saijo explains that her hollow ceramic works create moments in which the body connects with organic material—and, through that interaction, people connect with one another—when performers breathe into the hollow spaces or otherwise engage physically with them.
