【圧巻の流鏑馬神事🐎🏹】

鶴岡八幡宮で実施される流鏑馬（やぶさめ）神事は、毎年9月の例大祭を華やかに彩ります。

源頼朝公が1187年の放生会（ほうじょうえ）に奉納したのが始まりといわれ、仮装束をまとった武者が馬に乗って走りながら、全長約250ｍの馬場を颯爽と走り抜けます。

射手が、馬上から三つの的を次々と射抜く姿は、まさに動く歴史絵巻。 ピンと張り詰めた空気、的を射抜いた時の歓声、そして古式ゆかしい神事の流れの全てが、鎌倉時代の息吹を感じさせてくれます。

※流鏑馬神事は４月にも行われます。

【A Spectacular Yabusame Ritual🐎🏹】

The Yabusame Ritual, archery on hourseback is held every year at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine’s Reitaisai Festival in September.

It is said to have originated when Minamoto no Yoritomo dedicated it at the Hojoe (sacred ceremony for release captive animals) in 1187.

Riders, dressed in traditional costumes, swiftly gallop down the roughly 250-meter-long course, shooting arrows from horseback with remarkable skill as part of this sacred ceremony.

The sight of the archer successively shooting three targets from horseback is like a living picture scroll of history.
The tense atmosphere, the cheers as the arrows strike their targets, and the graceful flow of this ancient ritual—all evoke the spirit of the Kamakura period.

※Yabusame ritual is also held in April.
